ACTION REQUESTED:
Motion to approve or modify the attached Advisory Communication regarding accessory dwelling units (ADUs).
INTRODUCTION:
Commissioner Quincy Smith has prepared the attached Advisory Communication, recommending that the City move forward with the creation of an ordinance allowing ADUs. Initiative #4 on the Planning Commission's 2022 Work Plan is to "Review and recommend ordinance for Accessory Dwelling Unit". A subcommittee of the Planning Commission met regularly with various city department staff during 2022 to research ADUs and understand how they are regulated in other communities. That information was presented to the Planning Commission at the November 16, 2022 work session. The next step is for the Planning Commission to take formal action by approving an Advisory Communication with the Planning Commission's recommendation. The Planning Commission may approve the attached Advisory Communication as is or modify it to make a different recommendation. |
